A local Austin lifestyle magazine reached out to me asking for a list of my favorite skincare products Moms can buy for their teenagers. After creating this list for them I realized it’s too juicy not to share with all of you!
Skincare Tools I Love:
Dennis Gross LED Masque
This LED masque offers Red & Blue LED wavelengths to reduce inflammation and kill the p. acnes bacteria on the skin. It is easy to use and really helps clear and manage acne at home. I suggest using the blue setting alone until the skin clears then move into the red + blue combo setting for maintenance.
Foreo Luna Mini Cleansing Brush
This is by far my favorite cleansing tool for teens. More often than not, the teens are not washing their face for long enough and are therefore not properly cleansing their pores. This tool makes it easy to get a nice deep cleanse each day and it’s fun to use.
Sunscreens I Love For Teens:
For the teen playing tennis or any outdoor sports I love the Elta MD UV Physical SPF 41 Facial Sunscreen because they never have to worry about this formula leaking into and stinging their eyes while they sweat.
As an everyday facial SPF I love the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. Teens will love this because it doesn’t “feel” like sunscreen. Boys and Girls alike will enjoy how invisible this product feels on their skin and by applying it every morning they will be protecting their skin from future damage.
I love the Supergoop Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50 and suggest keeping a big bottle of it in the bathroom for your teen to apply like a body moisturizer after they shower. This formula smells good, feels good and will keep them protected without that greasy feeling that many sunscreens leave behind.
Skincare I Love For Teen Acne:
I love these Patchology Breakout Boxes. They contain a few nose strips for blackhead removal and an array of pimple stickers that heal pimples in half the time when worn overnight over the pimple. These stickers are perfect for the teen who gets one or two pimples from time to time.
For the teen coping with acne and oily skin the Environ Clarity+ Kit is amazing! In this kit you have a full daily regimen to clear the pores, heal the acne and nourish the skin.
For the teen who is breaking out and will not use an entire regimen of products I love the Cane & Austin Acne Retexturizing Pads. After cleansing, they can wipe down their skin with one of these exfoliating pads and call it a day. These pads help to both decongest the skin and fade scarring left behind by old breakouts.
Daily Teen Skincare Basics:
One of my favorite cleansers for teens is the Bioelements Flash Foam Cleanser. It contains fruit acids to gently exfoliate and the kids love that it pumps out in a frothy foam. To use this along with the Luna Mini Cleansing Brush will leave the skin clean, fresh and balanced.
I can’t say enough good things about this Environ Skin Essentia Vita-Antioxidant Gel. Loaded with vitamins A,C, E and a blend of Antioxidants, this gel is like a topical daily multivitamin for the skin and the kids love the lightweight gel formula since it never feels greasy. A layer of this beneath sunscreen is the perfect easy daily regimen to protect the health of the skin.
Fun Extras:
This is an innovative facial mist that teens can use after playing sports when they may not have time to immediately clean their face with facial cleanser. Lumion Miracle Mist both hydrates the skin and kills surface bacteria that can cause imbalances in your teen’s skin. And it’s easy to use – just mist and go.
If your teen’s skin feels dry, and they love masking, I love Patchology’s Hydrate Flashmasques. These are fun to use and give the skin a quick surge of moisture. I recommend keeping them in the fridge for a refreshing experience.
If your teen’s skin is oily and is looking clogged with blackheads I love Lather’s White Clay Deep Pore Cleansing Mask. Ten minutes in this masque will leave their skin feeling smooth and clean. I recommend using this once per week during the summertime.
